My Position on censorshipPersonally I'm against banning and I think that censorship is oppressive. I understand parents wanting to censor their children from some things until they are old enough. But I think that is a decision that parents should get to make for their own kids, not for others. The banning and challenging of books or content in the United States seems to always correlate with a group or person feeling offended. However being offended doesn’t make a view valid or accurate, that's where the First Amendment comes into play for Americans. “The purpose of free speech is to protect the minority, often unpopular, viewpoint from being overpowered by the majority, or by the government.” (Your 1st Amendment Rights) It’s important for people to be able to challenge social norms, otherwise how will society move forward? When we censor we are stopping ideas and critical thinking from occurring.

To the left is a video regarding possible censorship that Google has been implementing. I'm an avid Google user and I know that many others are as well, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to share an interesting video.
